"On The Open Road" is a song sung by Simon A. and Derrick McKilligan during the end credits of the Baby Lamb & Friends/Derrick McCormick crossover special Derrick McCormick & Friends.

It is originally from the 1995 Disney film "A Goofy Movie", sung by Bill Farmer (the voice of Goofy) and Aaron Lohr (the singing voice of Max).

Lyrics[]

Simon: Do ya need a break from modern livin'?
Do ya long to shed your weary load?
If your nerves are raw
And your brain is fried
Just grab a friend and take a ride
Together upon the open road
C'mon, Maxie! A-hyuck!

Derrick: All in all, I'd rather have detention
All in all, I'd rather eat a toad

(Simon: Ew!)

Derrick: And the old man drives like such a klutz
That I'm about to hurl my guts
Directly upon the road

Simon: There's nothin' can upset me
'Cause now we're on our way
Our trusty map will guide us straight and true

Derrick: Roxanne, please don't forget me
I will return someday
Though I may be in traction when I do

Simon: Me and Max relaxin' like the old days

Derrick: This is worse than dragon breath and acne

Simon: In a buddy-buddy kind of mode

Derrick: I'm so mad
I think I may explode

Simon: When I see that highway, I could cry

Derrick: Ya know, that's funny
So could I

Both: Just bein' out on the open road

Simon: Just me and little Maxie
My pipsqueak pioneer

Choir: They're "pardners" forever westward ho
Yeehaw!

Derrick: Could someone call a taxi
And get me outta here
To Beverly Hills 9-0-2-1-0
Chorus and Simon:
Every day another new adventure
Every mile another new zip code
And the cares we had are gone for good

Derrick: And I'd go with them if I could
Simon and Chorus:
I've got no strings on me
I'm feelin' fancy-free
How wonderful to be
On the open road!

Trivia[]

  • The inclusion of this song in the special was in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of A Goofy Movie, which both Simon and Derrick have enjoyed a whole lot.
    • Coincidentally, this song is both Simon and Derrick's favorite song from the movie.
  • This is the second song sung in a Baby Lamb & Friends episode that features a duet of two different people. The first one was Don't Go Breaking My Heart, sung by Simon A. (as Baby Lamb) and Cameron J. Green (as Belle Butterfly), which was heard at the end of Baby Lamb & Friends: The Movie.
    • Coincidentally, both songs were based on musical scenes from Disney featuring iconic Disney characters.
  • Throughout the song, Simon A. was doing a Goofy impression while singing because, as he once said himself, "I always want an excuse to do a Goofy impression".
  • While the song features mainly Simon and Derrick singing as Goofy and Max, the choir of nuns near the end was sung by Simon A. himself in a falsetto voice while the chorus at the end was from the original film.
